There are many reasons why people emigrate from the Caribbean to the US. It could be for new job opportunities, romantic or other relationship reasons, or simply for a change of scenery and the chance to explore some place new. Whatever the reason, we islanders always have home close to our hearts.

Since personally moving abroad, I’ve come to find that the best way us Caribbeans can hold on to - and be reminded of - our culture, is through food. That’s why I created Mix Peel Baked Goods, so that I can bring an authentic, sweet slice of home to my fellow islanders who are currently far away from it.

When I was young, baking played a great part in my experience of the island’s culture. I can recall helping my aunt bake Black/Rum Cake and specialty desserts as the cherry on top of Christmas dinner. Using her recipes, my grandmother’s recipes, and others passed from generation to generation, I hope to revive some of your most special memories of your island home - by inspiring a bit of nostalgia through authentic flavors and tastes.
